Yeah I glanced at the article too when it was published, and thought it was in very bad taste. I’m glad someone commented about it. Just reeked too much of flaunting, especially when it served no purpose at all, no moral of the story kind of thing.

Why not an in-between? A prosumer camera like Canon G10 would be great. But then again, with a price like that, you might be better off getting the real thing. I’m using a Sony DSC-H7 but I am now officially Anti-Sony. They have too much propriety stuff and their after-sales support is abominable. I tried buying a first-generation Memory Stick for a 6 year old camera, and as expected, Sony has ditched the technology. All they have are MS Pro Duos which my camera can’t read. But for travel photography, I personally would go for the bigger ones. You can shoot in Raw mode and save a lot of beautiful shots.
